A different kind of challenge

Bridget had spent much of her career in photography, photo editing, and other creative businesses. She liked working for herself and was interested in flipping, but had assumed she would need to wait until she had enough capital.

Learning about remote projects and outside funding changed what she wanted to explore. Deal analysis was unfamiliar compared with her creative work, and she describes enjoying the challenge of learning something different.

An early setback and a team to build

An early property went under contract and came close to closing before, according to Bridget, the seller backed out. She had to regroup after expecting it to be her first purchase.

She also found that building a dependable team required more work than she had anticipated. Finding contractors, agents, and lenders she could communicate with became an ongoing part of the business. She describes turning to Jake for feedback as obstacles came up.

A renovation she could finally walk through

Bridget records from her first active flip in Chicago, about an hour and a half from her home in Indiana. She says she had visited three times and used regular communication with her general contractor to manage the work between visits.

At that point, the property was still being renovated and any resale profit was projected. Her account is as much about patience and rebuilding momentum as it is about the project itself. She also describes enjoying the chance to help newer members who were facing familiar questions.
