A sequence she could follow

Marianne wanted to understand the complete process of a flip: finding a property, talking with lenders, working with contractors, and considering how to exit the project. She was looking for someone who could help her connect those steps.

In her recording, she recalls joining in September 2019, getting a house under contract in October, purchasing it near the end of November, and starting renovations in December. She speaks after having bought, renovated, and resold that property.

Getting comfortable with unfamiliar conversations

Learning involved more than watching lessons. Marianne describes having to pick up the phone, ask questions, and practice speaking with the people involved in a deal. She found the scripts useful as something she could rehearse with another person.

She also emphasizes being coachable. For her, progress meant being willing to try unfamiliar tasks and accept a challenge, even when a conversation felt outside her comfort zone.

Support through the questions along the way

Marianne repeatedly returns to the help she received when a question or problem came up. She describes Jake as a consistent point of contact throughout the project, alongside a community that gave her encouragement.

Her advice in the video is to research the program and consider whether the mentoring style fits. Her completed project is one person’s experience, with the work and learning behind it forming an important part of the story.
