A different side of real estate
Jose spent 16 years in the service before transitioning out in 2021 and becoming a real estate agent. He knew how to help people buy and sell homes, but describes flipping as a different business to learn.
He also explains his existing connection to Jake: they met while coaching their sons’ baseball team and became friends. A conversation about the course led Jose to speak with the team and consider the training for himself.
Putting a proposal together
After working through the lessons, Jose got his first property under contract. He describes sending comparable-property information and a proposal using the approach he had learned, then connecting with people in the member community about financing.
The path to purchase included a setback. Near closing, one gap funder withdrew. Jose says another person stepped in to help him get the property to closing. That change is a central part of his account.
From purchase to renovation
At the time of this recording, dated May 1, 2023 in his introduction, Jose says the property had been gutted and new flooring was going in. The renovation was moving forward; this was an update before a completed resale.
He highlights the effort involved in making offers, preparing a proposal, and asking for help. His longer-term ambition was to focus more of his real estate work on flipping.
